The Leadership Our State Needs

MY FOCUS FOR DISTRICT 9:

EDUCATION

Closing the gap from the pandemic and getting back to the basics, Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.  Our children need to feel safe, secure, and supported not divided.

JOBS

Making sure you can provide for your families by fighting to get everyone back to work.  Getting good paying jobs and keeping the jobs we have.

CRIME

I Stand against crime and fight for criminals to pay for their crimes, not everyone else. I also back good law enforcement that protects us from the criminals.

“22” is time for a change, a real change!

“22” is time to stand up and fight for our families, our jobs, our health, our communities and our amazing state.

“2022” is the year to stand up and fight for what we deserve—

if we do not fight now, it will be too late…just take a look around.

ISSUES THAT CONCERN YOU

I am open to hearing the issues that concern you. Contact me.  If it concerns you, I want to hear it. I want to be your voice and work for you.

Want to alleviate Palm Greasing?
Do you want someone trustworthy who takes your concerns seriously and will stand up and fight for your family, your job, your community, and your safety?

I am that someone who will stand up and be your voice.
I have no ties, owe no favors. I don’t owe anyone anything. I will work for you!

JOBS AND THE ECONOMY

I HAVE WITNESSED WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE ECONOMY IN THE PAST TWO YEARS.  I HAVE SEEN WHAT HAPPENED TO GREAT JOBS AND NUMEROUS BUSINESSES.  IT IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THAT ALL COMPANIES REOPEN AND EVERYONE RETURN TO WORK TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMY.  IT IS GOING TO TAKE ALL OF US WORKING TOGETHER.   AND TOGETHER WE CAN POSITIVELY CHANGE THE ECONOMIC FORECAST.

EDUCATION: CRITICAL RACE THEORY

STUDENTS ARE ACTIVELY TRYING TO CLOSE THE GAP OF THEIR EDUCATION AFTER ONE 1½ YEARS OF VIRTUAL LEARNING AND DEALING WITH CORONAVIRUS.  THEY DO NOT NEED THE CRITICAL RACE THEORY CURRICULM.  STUDENTS’ FOCUS HAVE TO BE RECOVERING BASIC SKILLS IN ORDER TO BE COMPETITIVE IN THE JOB MARKET.  SCHOOLS SHOULD NOT BE MANDATED TO TEACH WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PROVEN TO CAUSE DIVISION AND SEPARATION. THIS IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF WHY PEOPLE FOUGHT FOR CIVIL RIGHTS.  CRITICAL RACE THEORY IS NOT INSPIRATIONAL, MOTIVATIONAL, NOR UNIFYING.

CARJACKINGS, ROBBERIES, RAPES, MURDERS, ASSAULTS, AND OTHER VIOLENT CRIMES ARE ON THE RISE NATIONWIDE, STATEWIDE, AND EVEN DISTRICT WIDE.  ONE OF THE REASONS CRIME IS INCREASING IS BECAUSE OF PERCEIVED NEGATIVE VIEWS OF THE POLICE FORCES.  THERE IS MAJOR DISRESPECT FOR THE LAW.  LAW ABIDING CITIZENS ARE TIRED OF THE CRIME AND THE LACK OF RESPECT TOWARDS THE POLICE.  EQUITY MEANS IMPARTIALITY/FAIRNESS; IF YOU COMMIT A CRIME, YOU PAY FOR IT.  I SUPPORT THE POLICE AND I BELIEVE CRIMINALS MUST PAY FOR THE CRIMES THEY COMMIT; NOT REWARDED BY NOT FACING ANY CONSEQUENCES.

SECOND AMENDMENT- NO SECOND NO PROTECTION

CITIZENS MUST BE ABLE TO PROTECT THEMSELVES, PROTECT THEIR FAMILIES, AND PROTECT THEIR PROPERTY.  THE SECOND AMENDMENT IS THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, AND AS A CITIZEN, THIS RIGHT SHOULD NEVER BE TAMPERED WITH, CHANGED, VOTED AGAINST OR TAKEN AWAY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY HOT TOPIC FOR PEOPLE TODAY.  I SUPPORT THE SECOND; BECAUSE, IF THERE IS NO SECOND; THERE IS NO PROTECTION.

About Brenda Mennella

Brenda Mennella is a native Delawrean. She is a wife, a mother of two adult children, the proud grandmother of two grandchildren, and a teacher.  After graduating from high school, she attended college and later enlisted in the Army with the Army with an MOS of 95-Bravo, Military Intelligence. She departed from the military with a medical discharge.

She volunteered for several organizations over the years such as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and Boy Scouts. She taught Sunday School at three different churches.  She collected food, cooked meals and distributed food to the homeless. She also volunteered with Crime Stoppers to help reduce crime and Habitat for Humanity.

Her main passion is helping others, and the different positions she held gave her opportunities to do just that. She worked for DuPont in Seaford, Delaware and later started working for the Department of Labor where she helped individuals whose companies shut down. In her position, she was able to relocate clients, obtain retraining and certification, become self-employed, get childcare, and any relevant services to help her clients re-enter the workforce.  She conducted workshops and orientations to help the unemployed return to work.

Brenda worked in conjunction with the Project Manager of the Delaware Serious and Violent Offender “Reentry Project” which was brand-new to Delaware. It consisted of several state agencies and nongovernmental organizations.  They collaborated to help Violent Offenders with housing, addictions, employment, counseling, training, and other pre-release services to reduce the propensity of reincarceration. The main objective of this project was to reduce recidivism by alleviating barriers and helping former inmates smoothly transition back into society.

After working on the project, she returned to college and earned a Master’s Degree in Education.  She is certified in both Regular Education and Special Education.  She has also taught the Gifted and Talented, these students are taught accelerated math and higher-level reading comprehension. Currently, Brenda is a teacher in Newark and has been teaching for the past 13 years.

She has been involved with political issues, and decided to stop talking about all the issues, and start doing something about them. Brenda will stand up and fight and be your voice, and she will represent you in State Senate District 9.  She cares about things that concern you, your safety your business, your family and your community. If you elect her into office, SHE WILL WORK FOR YOU!
